Hi guys! We are gonna talk about the parts of the back. The back anatomy is really complicated and it has 8 different muscles! I am gonna show you and explain every part of the back and I am gonna show you some exercises I do when I have back day. I train my back 2 times a week and this is my favourite part of the week. When I have back day, that includes and the biceps. So I am gonna show you the biceps anatomy soon.
What are the parts of the back called
As you can see the green colour is in the inner and upper part of the back. It is connected with the neck and the shoulders of our body. It is called trapezius and the most useful exercises for this muscle are shrugs and deadlift with barbell/dumbell.
The next and the widest part of our back is The Broadest Back which in Latin is called Latissimus Dorsi. It is in the lower part of our back and I could say that this is the largest muscle in the upper body. The best exercises to make our back wider are Lat Pulldowns with machine ( wide grip ) and if you can do Pull-Ups, this is the most useful exsercise to make your back wide.
The next muscle is in the lower part of the back, that is called Erector Spine. The Erector Spine hasnt a lot of ways to train it, but there is one useful exercise you can do. It is called hyperextension and now I am sure that a lot of you will think that this is difficult, but its so simple actually! Here I will drop you a pictures, I actually call it just Back Extension, but hyperextension is a synonym.
Teres Major and Teres Minor
The next ones are called Teres Major and Teres minor, these are my favourite muscles to train. There isnt a big difference between these two parts and they are connected. I call them shovels. The shovels make your back wider and bigger. Even though it looks small on the picture, actually its not that small. People who train swimming have insane back muscles, especially the Broadest Back and the shovels. So if you want to make your shovels wider, you should do Lat Pulldown and Dumbell Rows.
The next is Rhomboids, on the picture you can see them in red and I know they look so small but they are part of the back so they are important. The Rhomboids are connected with other parts of the back, but Rhomboids has another ways to train them, like the other muscles. The best exercises you can do are T-Bar Rows and Dumbell Bent-Over Rows.
And the last one muscle of our back is called Rear Delt which on the picture is in pink and it is in the upper part of the body. I could say that the Trapezius and the Rear Delt are close, because these two muscles are part of the shoulders. The best exercise that includes the upper part of the back is Reverse Fly. It activates the both muscle parts – Trapezius and Rear Delt. And the other exercise for these two muscles is Face Pulls and the form here is really important. What are the 3 main back muscles
In my opinion the main muscle parts of the back are Trapezius, Latissimus Dorsi and Teres Major ( the sholves ). These three muscles are the biggest and easily they can be seen. To proove you that these trhee muscles are the main I have photo for you of my back. So you can see that the Trapezius, Latissimus Dorsi and Teres Major stand out the most from all the rest muscles. Of course you can see and the other muscles from the back. I love working out my back, this is one of my favourite things to do in gym.
